I grew up near the water south of Houston in Seabrook (near Clear Lake City) and sometimes go back there to rent a sailboat and pursue my passion for sailing. I attended Texas A&M undergraduate school and graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 1984 (both my parents and all my brothers and sisters attended UT and to this day I love both schools). I opened Dripping Springs Animal Hospital officially on Aug 12, 1985.

I love acoustic guitar and mandolin music and join the legion of central Texas amateur musicians on both instruments at church and with friends in the Leaky Faucet Band, and at local jam sessions occasionally. My wife Louise and I share our home with 2 dogs and 2 cats and share the clinic with a variety of other “clinic pets.” My late son RJ has blessed us with 3 awesome grandchildren, Billy, Cody and Dillon who live in Kansas. We all miss RJ every single day. My beautiful daughter Angela has graced us with 2 awesome grandchildren, Tristan and Taylor who reside in Austin. All those little ones are the light of my life.

Dr. Amanda Smith, DVM
I joined the team at Dripping Springs Animal Hospital after graduating last May. At the hospital you can frequently find me honing my dentistry and surgical skills as well as learning about new treatments for diseases and medical conditions.

Now that I’m done with school I live in Driftwood with my husband Whit and our two dogs Bear, a yellow Lab, and George, a Blue Lacy/Catahoula mix. When I’m not at the hospital, I enjoy gardening, outdoor cooking and spending time with my friends and family.

I havebeen here at D.S. Animal Hospital since 1999. I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee but I am a native Texan. I married my college sweetheart and havetwo daughters. We live out near Buda on our family’s ranch with an old cat, a one-eyed dog and some of the prettiest cows you’ve ever seen.

When I’m not here working with cats and dogs, I am busy working on the ranch. I also find time to write a humor column for the Hays Free Press newspaper. Too busy for a real hobby, I enjoy working crossword puzzles and watching football.

I was raised and lived in Alabama until moving to Texas in 2005. I have been a receptionist since 1994 and here at DSAH since 2007. If you call here and hear a voice answer the phone with a thick southern accent that would be me greeting you and willing to take care of you and your pet’s needs.

I thoroughly enjoy working here at DSAH and look forward to greeting you and your pets. I currently live in Dripping Springs with my wonderful 5-year old son who is my heart and soul, my 2 slightly crazy dogs and an elderly deaf cat.

I’m the late bloomer of the group – after growing up in Wichita Falls and kicking around the world doing an assortment of jobs, attending various universities, and producing a couple of really great kids, I wound up in California at a county animal shelter. Okay, so it only took me 40+ years to find my vocation – better late than never! When my family relocated to Dripping Springs in 2007 I found my way to DSAH – and I must say working with pets who have loving families is a real treat for me!

When I’m not here, I’m at home with my husband, my remaining teenager, two foster kittens who decided to stay, the Pyrenees puppy my daughter had to have (all 115 goofy pounds of him) and the exuberant pit bull pup I'm "watching" for my son who's in a dorm. We are currently fixing up our “fixer-upper”, a project I hope to have mostly completed before I die of really old age.

I am one of the more recent additions here at DSAH. As an animal lover from an early age, I always knew I wanted to work in the veterinary field. Little did I know it could be so exciting! I grew up in Austin with my parents, brother, and a parade of cats, hamsters and finches. My current household consists of one human, one (amazing) dog and three cats whose hobbies include sleeping and sleeping.

Currently I am attending Texas State University for my Bachelor's degree in Biology. When I'm not studying or working I try to spend as much time either exploring the various hiking spots around Austin with my dog or reading. Our new favorite hiking trail is the beautiful Turkey Creek near Emma Long Metropolitan park.

I was born and raised in California and never felt suburban life was for me. So, in 2002 we moved to Dripping Springs and we love it here. While in California I attended St. Mary’s College and Diablo Valley College to pursue my degree in Accounting. I married my husband Chris in 1989 and we have 3 children: Kaitlin, Jared and Jacob. We also share our home with 3 dogs, 6 cats (they run the house) and 4 chickens. As crazy as life gets I can't imagine life without my animals!

I joined DSAH in May of 2004 and have been blessed with the opportunity to be a Vet. Tech, something I have wanted to do since I was a child. When I am not at DSAH, I work from home as a contract accountant and maintain a resale booth at Lonestar gifts in Drippin’. When I can find the time to get away my family loves going to Lake Buchanan, fishing and boating every chance we get.

I have been a technician at DSAH since spring of 2010, and I have to admit...I LOVE MY JOB!! I am a Texan (born and raised) but am originally from Friendswood. I have lived in Austin since 2006, and I don't think I will ever leave. I have two dogs (Roxii and Patron) and two cats (Garfield and Stitch). They are the best pets in all the world. :) If you come by the clinic on a good day you might get to meet Roxii, she likes to come to work with me sometimes. When I'm not assisting our veterinarians in "caring for the life of your pets", I spend most of my timehanging out with my family. I do sometimes find the time to enjoy a few of my favorite hobbies which include reading books, working out, going to the park with my doggies, or shopping, but mostly I'm hoping the day will be over soon so I can go back to work again. :) DSAH is definitely one of my favorite places to be. My only hope is that you and your pets will love it too.

Originally from California, I moved to Texas four years ago to finish school at St. Edward’s University in Austin. I majored in Biology and am presently pursuing my dreams of attending Veterinary school. I have been working as a veterinary technician at DSAH for almost a year, gaining valuable experience as I prepare for a future in the field. Growing up with physicians in my family, medicine has always been my interest, but animals are my passion. I have been riding horses since the age of seven; in fact, much of my spare time is spent at the barn with my thoroughbred Dante, where I train and compete in show jumping (I know, riding english in Texas is a bit of a no-no). I also have two dogs, a puggle named Ella and Izzy is my Olde Boston Bulldog. They are great companions as well as teachers for the less socialized dogs I foster for Austin Pets Alive!. I love fostering for APA! because I have the unique opportunity to help the un-adoptable find forever homes.

I was born and raised in Illinois. I joined the reception team at Dripping Springs Animal Hospital in August of 2010. My four children and I moved here to Texas to be closer to family. Yes, I said four children! I have three boys that attend DS Middle School and a daughter that attends Walnut Springs Elementary. They are my pride and joy as well as huge animal lovers like their Mama. They helped foster "Jack" the clinic cat and shape him into the loveable cat he is now. We currently reside in Dripping Springs. In my (not so) spare time, I shuffle my children between their various sports and hobbies. I also enjoy cooking for my family and spending time outdoors.
Jack!
Hi! I'm Jack and I'm told that I'm the "Clinic catt" - whatever that is. You can call me "Boss." A good samaritan found me under a building, weak, blind and starving (well I was only 5 or 6 days old) and brought me to DSAH where I opened my eyes and immediately became everyone's favorite. At least that's how I remember it. I did try to die a couple of times, but Steffi and her 4 kids wouldn't let me - it's really hard to die if you can't even relax! So I decided to live, and thrive, and reign as benificent tyrant over my doting staff.

I see clients and patients Monday through Friday 8-6pm and Saturday 8-noon. Come pet me and tell me how cute I am!
